FranktoidTM No. 30 - Are You On TOP?

 I get emails sporadically about my blog. Mostly they are asking about SEO marketing or placing their own "sponsored" article on my page. Most of the others almost always ask why I don't have a social media presence on Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok. I have heard it all: "Your page would rock on the 'gram!" "Boomers belong on Facebook." "You could get a million followers on TikTok!" I would like to gently tell them all that this blog does not belong on social media, but in reality no one would listen, or care for that matter. That is because social media is nothing but a distraction. I refer to it as "the other porn", or the acronym TOP, because I think it is more addictive than porn. Unlike pornography, you can literally view it anywhere, like in front of family and friends. It's widely accepted as completely normal, side effects be damned. Engagement is encouraged and rewarded, and the recompense is never ending dopamine hits. Mix in a healthy dose of AI across all social media and you have a recipe for disaster. That's right, I am predicting all of these platforms will collapse like a house of cards. Think of it like the housing market crash or the dot com bust, but with social media. Imagine your daily routine without the aforementioned platforms. Can you do without them or is the addiction too strong? Hopefully we can all kick them to the curb when that time comes. Meanwhile I'll just keep plugging away on the blog, unfazed by social media trends, AI influence, or the rantings of key board warriors. So as you can see, sometimes being on TOP is not a good thing.
